Adventures in film photography - part deux (dos)

I am thrilled to announce that I bought my own (used) medium format camera - a mamiya 645af.  I love it.  I still have a lot to learn from it, but with the help of the lab I use (the find lab) and the wonderful photographer I bought it from, I am sure that soon I will get to the level that I admire from other photographers.  Thank you to my friend Maria and of course her sister Tere, for helping out and being such good sports.  LOVE FILM!!

40th bash

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting my husband's 40th birthday party.  The days leading up to the party were hectic, but at the end it was all worth it.  Also, I had the opportunity of practicing film, so it was a win-win situation for me.  I loved every minute of it.....well, minus me doing 90% of the cooking!

A Family Portrait

Had such a great time taking pictures of my friend and her boys.  It was a great opportunity to practice more of my film photography and I am thankful.  This time I used mamiya 645 and Kodak portra 400.  I have yet to be disappointed.  As always I am lucky to have a lab that is very open and is willing to give me pointers and suggestions on how to improve my photography.

Adventures in Film Photography - Part 1

Just received my film scans from my exploratory day in San Francisco.  Thank you to my good friend Claudia for walking for miles, taking my "selfies" and for just being so darn happy!  I took the opportunity to rent a Mamiya 645 medium format camera using a Portra 400 film and practice this beautiful but dying way of photography.  I am pleased with the results, but I need a lot more practice to perfect the look.  Had such a great time, I needed it!!

It was nice to spend time with a friend exploring the city.  We saw some interesting things, like Taylor Street. I really thought we were not going to make it out of there!  Note to self: do not walk Taylor Street (unless I am looking for some illegal goodies)!  Here are a few shots taken with my Canon 6D.  Can't wait to get my film scans taken at city hall - and some of my little one from home.
